Introduction
Swim, cliff jump, and rope swing at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms
You step through the West Entrance and walk toward blue green water backed by rock walls. This is a deep spring fed quarry with lifeguards, marked jump points, and a roped swim area. You set up on the grass or sand and ease in for a swim to the buoy. If you want a rush, you line up for the rope swing or one of the posted ledges and take the plunge. Staff keeps the scene orderly, checks life jackets, and watches the water. You stay within marked zones and follow instructions so everyone gets a clean, safe turn. The setting looks dramatic, but the rules keep the day simple and controlled.
You bring a towel, sunblock, water shoes, and a small bag. Sharp rock edges and hot surfaces make water shoes useful. Life jackets are required unless you pass the swim test, which proves you can enter, swim to a marker, tread water, and exit without help. The test runs efficiently, and staff explains each step before you begin. If you choose to keep the jacket on, you still get plenty of swim time and full access to the ropes and general swim area. The kitchen serves basic hot items and cold treats, so you avoid packing bulky coolers and keep your load light.
You handle logistics up front. You reserve your time slot online in season and bring cash for on site payments. You enter the West Entrance only, which maps to 1213 Oak Ridge Farm Highway in Mooresville. That gate leads straight to quarry parking and check in. You sign the waiver for everyone in your group before you arrive. You store valuables out of sight in your vehicle or leave them at home. You read posted signs about jump heights and follow the lifeguards when they pause activity for breaks or weather. You use the day for active rest and shared laughs rather than for pushing limits without a plan.
When you want a slower hour, you float near the beach and watch the rope swing. You spread out on the grass, reapply sunblock, and decide whether to swim one more loop before sunset. As you leave, you drop towels in a wet bag and check the car for stray gear. You exit through the same gate and beat traffic on NC 150 back to Interstate 77. You leave with tired arms, a calm head, and a clear sense that the quarry turned a regular afternoon into a simple adventure you repeat next summer.
